Sunrise vs Simonton Sliders

#1 Post by badwindows »

We live in a wooded Chicago suburb and are looking to replace our slider windows and sliding glass doors in the next couple months. We have received 2 quotes so far from some recommended installers, but I’m not sure which is better since both sales guys said that they didn’t know much about the other brands.

Quote 1
Sunrise sliders with white on the inside and tan on the outside - $700/window
Okna (as a lower priced option) - $575/window
Sunrise sliding glass door w/o blinds - $2080

Quote 2
Simonton 5050’s with white on both sides - $465/window
To get the dual color, we’d have to upgrade to the 5500 or the 9800
5500’s - $525/window
9800’s - $620/window
Simonton sliding glass door - $1465

Are there companies that make good casement windows, but not sliders? Most of the reviews talk about casements, but I would assume that there could be a difference in the engineering of the two.

Is it a fair comparison to put the Sunrise up against the Simonton 5500 or is the 9800’s more in their range?

I think I prefer the professionalism of the second guy, but if his products are not as good then I’m ok working with the first one.

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
