My windows have functioned well, and have remained in good working order for years. Much longer than their predecessors, made of vinyl.

Worked clean, and explained the process very well.

I would recommend these windows to anyone interested in investing in a good product, instead of putting a band-aid on a problem.

Once installed, we like the windows. their customer service, though, is so bad that I wouldn't ask them back even for a large discount. Terrible, terrible experience. Seee installer info below.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Work promised complete by 15 July 2007 and it's still not done on 22 October. Mismeasured twice, trim not done, misquoted on drywall work, delays in production, poor communication. Absolutely one of the worst customer experiences of my life. I'm SOOOOO glad I only bought windows for one side of my house from these idiots. Avoid like the plague. They're terrible

Blinded by the hype and the dog and pony show, we bought five windows for nearly $7000. They were installed in December (four months ago), and the first time we open one window to get some fresh air, the gray stripping inside the lower window comes loose. We also were unable to open the lower window to clean it. Conversely, we are unable to properly lock the lower window of another double-hung. Having little plastic "wash assists" is the dumbest design ever in order to activate the spring release mechanism. I had hoped that we would love these windows considering the price we paid, but they have proven to be difficult to use.

Salesman showed up, measured for the windows, and packed up and left without giving us a quote when we told him we only had 30 mins left for his pitch. Said he needed an hour and a half to prove his product was the best choice. I'm still scratching my head on that one since I already KNEW in general principal his product should be superior to vinyl. All I needed to know was if we could afford it. Which turns out we couldn't. I call his office and they quoted $12,500 over the phone for only 8, no frills windows...crazy...
Price Information
$12,500 for 8 windows. Way high. You can get Marvin composites here for around $255 a window (not installed, but I doubt it will cost over $1200 a window to install them) I suggest finding out how much windows by themselves cost from Home Depot and other distributors. If your windows are standard sizes then the ones from an installer should be around that price plus a reasonable install fee. I don't consider $1200 or more a window for install to be reasonable.

Couldn't be happier. Spend hours and hours researching replacement windows and Fibrex is clearly a great value. Vinyl is ugly, would result in great loss of glass space and quick-growth pine windows have rot issues in my neighorhood.

I am feeling really stupid for trusting these people! The salesman assured me that they offered custom colors ( as Pella does)... turns out that they just bought some paint and painted them !- I don't think they even hired a painter! The paint job was awful and it scratches off when you operate the window- they are double hung. The only compensation they offered was that the SALESMAN would drop by and touch up the paint! I paid an extra $125.00 each, for 8 "custom color" (small) windows! He out and out lied, and said that their finish was comparable to Pella's EnduraClad finish! I now have windows that must be painted at LEAST once a year!

I have been very disappointed in my experience. I have waited over 6 months and still have open issues. They did a poor quality job on a central focus window. There are holes around the trim. I would never recommend anderson. I suggest going with Marvin as a replacement window supplier.

We recently (8/08) replaced all of our old aluminum windows 13 total, plus a slider. We bid out Anderson, Pella, Penguin, Marvin, and Renewal by Anderson. We have a one story ranch and we are surrounded by two story homes with double hung windows. We really wanted to replace the gliders with double hung. The quote we received from Renewal by Anderson was about $5000 more than any of the others. However, none of the other companies could place double hung windows in all of the openings due to egress issues. Since Renewal by Anderson is a custom made window (each window is built for the specific opening), they were able to install double hung windows in each opening. All of the other companies have stock sizes and were not able to custom fit the openings. We chose Renewal by Anderson and after the discounts ($100/window and 5% cash payment) they were only about $3000 more than the other companies. The windows are in and we are thrilled, especially with the Anderson 400 series (Renewal does not make doors) three panel slider. They look great, the outside noise was reduced incredibly, and our electric and gas bills dropped by 30% and 25% respectively. I would highly recommend Renewal by Anderson as replacement windows. They are not cheap, but they are well worth the extra money. If you are looking for cheap windows, Renewal by Anderson is not the product for you. I’m sure other products perform just as well and cost less. However, if you are like us and want a specific type of window to replace a different type (glider v. double hung) Renewal by Anderson might be your best and only option.

The crew that came out and installed our windows were incredible. They were prompt, friendly, curteous, receptive to questions, and fast.
Price Information
The price for Renewal by Anderson windos was higer than anyone ealse, but they were the only company that could provide the exact product that were wanted. After rebates and discounts the price difference was negligable.

The salesmaa wnet into his sales pitch which took over 1 hour. He then quoted us a price of $20,000 to replace 11 windows. When he asked what I thought of the quote, I laughed at him and told him he was insane to think I'd pay close to $2,000 a window. When I asked him how long it would take his installers to do this job, he said it would take 2 workers 2 full days which, I pointed out, equated to around $7,500 labor per day or $3,750 per worker or $450 per hour. He then lowered the price twice and, after I told him to forget it, he called his office and came back with yet another price reduction. The final cost was approx. $15,000 which was still way too high. I can only imagine how much profit they are making off of people who accept their initial or 2nd quote. Buyer Beware!!!

Very disappointed in the quality of the windows. We bought 4 windows, the salesman led us to believe that these were of much higher quality than they actually are.
Price Information
The original price was $7000 for 5 windows. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They instantly came back with a 'well, we can get you a deal for 40% off if you buy by this date'. I should have listened to my gut instinct. Cheap, crap windows, shoddy installation, and way overpriced. Do your homework and don't ever choose this company.

After the salesman showed up and gave us his long drawn 1 hour sales pitch, he quoted us a price of $35,000 to replace 17 windows!!!!!! I had to catch my breath in order to answer his question "what are your thoughts?". I told him it was ridiculous, over $2,000 per window. He then proceeded to make a phone call, and dropped the price (within 3 mins) to 25,000, only if i signed up right there and then. I kept insisting I would have to think about it and he kept making more phone calls, the price coming down more and more. He also informed us the interest rate (if i wanted to finance was 23 percent) Sounds illegal. This guy WOULD NOT leave. I can imagine all the old folks he manages to rip off.

Anderson came by and measured. We gave them an hour but when they finished measuring they said that we did not give them enough time to "go over" their product. We would need to go to their office 30 min away at a later date. I called a few days later for the price quote and they refused to give it to me over the phone. I asked why since they already took all measurements and had all information. They said they do not do business that way. I asked what way and asked to speak to a manager. They refused to put a manager on and said I would have to come down with my wife to review in person. After several aggravating minutes of back an forth I told them that if they cant give me a price Range for the windows I can't come down. They refused. Buyer BEWARE.

i'm just met with a sales rep recently and the stories i have read on this site are very similar. I too was shocked at the initial price of $6300 for 5 windows. After haggling a bit and a phone call to his manager he came down to $5800. Still $1160 per window 4'x5'! this seems was expensive to me compared to all other brands I have priced!

Andersen quality is pretty good as long as the factory and not sub-contractors do the installation. Don't let a sub-contractor near the windows. Unfortunately, the price they first quote is about 30% higher than any of the other big boys. They must figure everyone was born last night.

The product was not the issue, the salesman and the pricing was the problem. First he insisted that I need to choose another color then I wanted, but then gave in to me, and then he was unable to provide us with an overall cost for 5 windows without us making a trip to the show room. The price for one window kept changing, so we could come close to an estimate, yet he want us to make a commit to purchase, then he would quote us a price. I have never been so upset with a salesman; this will definitely be a NO SALE!! Then he proceeded to play multiple sympathy cards about his wife in surgery, a sick child and a dog with cancer. I wish him well if this is the case but have a hard time believing him at this point. He is lucky I did not boot him physically out of my house!!

Had sliders installed, excessive play end to end when latched, and have to be careful when trying to latch as the windows tend to bow away in the middle and not latch at all.

I hired RbA of Knoxville to replace windows in half the house, I will not use them for the rest or recommend them. They came in and laid tools on an antique walnut desk with gloss lacquer finish like it was a milk crate, installed sliders to replace old Anderson windows and they were offset to one side, obvious even from the road, when I said something, he measured where they would have to trim and it was 2.5 inches along one side and 4 inches on the other, did they even look at what they were doing? When I said that won't work, he tried to argue the point until I sold him flat out they would have to correct it, so much for them not having to touch the trim, oh, and they don't fix removed/splintered trim. All this just to get them centered? when they trimmed the outside with aluminum, it looked good, but I had to ask them to go back over the caulk for all the gaps and holes they missed. I would think that after the third time I ask if they checked them all and I again had to point out where it needed caulk they might really at least look themselves. But no, I had to point out 2 more times they missed corners. Also, the trim nails that they put into the face of the aluminum didn't go in straight and made the holes a little larger, I asked them to put a dab of caulk to seal them and it was another go around- they "don't do that", "the nails are ribbed so water can't get in",(even though I can see in around the nails,) and even they don't like use to put caulk on the fronts ( so don't put holes there?) And the final straw was pulling the screw out of my wife's tire from the window installed above the garage door(I know that's where it came from since the head wasn't scratched up like they are when you drive any distance on them, and it was greeting me the next morning) also more screws in driveway where they parked the truck. This doesn't even count the sawdust covering the bed that they'll "blow it off" or the lack of being able to keep an appointment time even when they call the night before to set it.
Price Information
Price given was $8400 for 4 large sliders, 2 med sliders and 1 casement, the cost to Renewal from their factory was 2772.77 including shipping ( the installers even left their invoice on my dresser when they went home one night. (2) 51" x41.75" sliders 293.00 ea (4) 78.375" X 41.75" sliders 428.00 ea (1) 24" x 41.75" casement with tempered glass and pebble texture 240.00

Where do I start? 1. We went to the showroom and the show-person lied to us (not a good start). He said that Renewal By Anderson does all the installs. But the person who came out was a franchisee. So basically, a construction person that bought into the company. 2. After telling us how great his windows were and how crappy and expensive all the other ones were, he showed us a composite window with plastic handles that I would not put into our RV, let alone my house. He quoted 60K+ for 35 windows. If you do not understand this, he showed us the window that HE would make the most money on. 3. When I told him that we are not buying today because we are looking at other windows, he took almost 18K off the price if we sign today. WTF. 4. He would not give a written quote but said we could write down the totals if we wanted. I should have expected this.
Price Information
Advice for anyone calling this company. 1. This is not Anderson windows, it is a separate company. 2. They franchise their installations so you are not getting a Anderson person, you are getting a local contractor that bought in. Ask for their company name and research them with BBB and others to find out what their reputation is. 3. GET A WRITTEN QUOTE. If they wont give you one, then they are trying to shaft you. 4. Never, Never, Never buy the same day you are visited. No matter how good the deal sounds, it was made to sound good and they are trying to take advantage of you. 5. Find a local contractor that you trust and ask them to work with the window manufacturer. Get several written quotes and understand the options. The contractor will get the best deal on the windows and may make a little on the window but that is ok. Look for a quality window and make sure the contractor does quality work. 6. If they do good work, recommend them to someone else. That is the best you thing you can do for them.

After 9 years they all have air leaks, very hard to open, locks don't hold tight, handles are falling off. The 20 year old windows they replaced were better.

All double-hung windows - all are very hard to open, air leaks everywhere, screws in handles were stripped out when installed so they pulled off. Had rep come back out - said I should expect the windows to be hard to open when they're installed next to each other. Promised to have someone come back out, but never did. Excuse was "we're really busy". Basically it was a "we got your money so live with it" attitude.
Price Information
VERY expensive for the poor quality. Initial estimate of $12,000 for TEN windows. This isn't the Vatican windows they're replacing!!! Should have gone with gut instinct and told them to take a hike instead of asking for a better price.

These windows are not much better than the ones we replaced them with. I have had to have the glass replaced twice since 2005. The windows are very drafty with frost build up and mold. We were not happy once winter started in 2005.

We had our windows installed almost two years ago and they're still not right. Windows were not put in correctly and not centered, we had issues with air leakage and had difficulty locking windows. The following services were done: Windows were removed and frames realigned, "window kits" were installed, with little performance improvement, to make windows close properly (because Anderson was having issues with many other customers' windows as well), extra seals and weather stripping were installed. Because windows still would not close and lock properly window sashes (26 double hung windows) were replaced and fitted with double locks, but, there is now air leakage again. The new installation did not include some of the incremental improvements previously added and it's now like starting all over again. We have an appointment to get seals and weather stripping installed on the replacement sashes. This will be the 5th attempt to fix window deficiencies.

We were unhappy with the workmanship during the initial installation. These were Renewal by Anderson sub-contractors who seemed to be more concerned with schedule rather than quality of workmanship (suspect they were being paid "by the window" for installation).
Price Information
These windows were more expensive that we thought they would be. But at that time we thought Anderson had a good reputation, and had not realized that Renewal by Anderson provided different products than Anderson Windows provided for new construction.

We had 4 gliding windows and a huge patio door replaced for nearly $12,000 18 months ago. We loved the windows, then about 6 months ago, August 2009, our condo association power washed before painting and all 4 windows leaked water. I called to complain and was told the power washer was stronger than any storm and I shouldn't worry. Last week a Nor'Easter blew through and the two windows facing wind-blown rain LEAKED big time. I called and demanded someone come to witness. Now I am being told that "seepage is normal in a severe storm". What BS. These windows have already been serviced for noise, the repair tech lubricated the windows with Armorall tire dressing to end noise. I have no choice but to pursue action against Andersen and the installer Vinylume of Connecticut. Have been advised to contact the Attorney General. DON"T BUY THESE WINDOWS!!!
